LASER NAIL FUNGUS TREATMENT WESTON

A fungal infection of the nails, called onychomycosis, is difficult to treat, particularly when your infection is on a toenail. About 20% of people aged 40 to 60 have the condition.

The newest, safest treatment for fungus is laser therapy, which treats the problem locally rather than through oral medications, killing the fungus at the site using heat.

The GentleMax® by Candela, originally used for hair removal, has been cleared by the FDA for the treatment of onychomycosis (nail fungus), making it easier for your medical technician to treat the problem at the source.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Candela GentleMax Pro® uses laser heat to weaken and kill nail fungus. The laser beans high-intensity light deep into skin tissue, where it delivers a controlled amount of heat. The upper layers of your skin are protected by the patented Dynamic Cooling Device technology with a burst of cryogen.

Once the fungus is destroyed, your nails will heal and return to normal.

WHAT’S THE PROCESS?

First, your nails are prepped by being filed down to help the light penetrate, even those that don’t appear to be infected, to make sure that all active and dormant infections are treated.

Next, the device pulses laser energy into the affected nails. At this point, you’ll feel a slight amount of heat. Then, laser pulses are applied to the surrounding nail to completely remove any infection to prevent reoccurrence.

More treatments are done as needed to make sure the fungus is completely gone, then your nails will be given the time to grow back to healthy nails.

There’s no downtime, because the treatments are safe and non-invasive. You won’t see an instant change, because it takes time for the nail to regrow, at which point it will look normal again.

There’s minimal aftercare once all treatments are complete, but until all the fungus is completely gone, please avoid getting professional manicures or pedicures to ensure that you don’t spread the infection. You can, however, apply your own nail polish at home, but

Until the nail fungus is completely gone, do not get professional pedicures or manicures in order to avoid spreading the fungal infection. Giving yourself pedicures or manicures at home is permitted. Nail polish can also be applied, provided you do not reuse the polish.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LEAVE THE FUNGUS UNTREATED?

Unfortunately, untreated fungus will not go away on its own. It can even spread to other nails, or even to your hair, since your hair and nails are both made up of keratin. Untreated nails will become brittle and crack, and eventually they will need to be removed. addressing the problem early is the better solution.

The Candela GentleMax Pro® treatment is safe, convenient, and will not cause any discomfort or pain. It destroys the fungus but leaves your nearby tissues intact. You’ll also avoid the side effects of oral medication, which can include liver issues and other problems.
