HCG is an abbreviation for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin which is a substance that is naturally found in a woman’s body during pregnancy in very large quantities. During pregnancy, the hormone allows the body to metabolize fat and use it as energy for both the mother and the fetus. However, for weight loss, only very small doses of HCG are used to help burn off excess stored fat while protecting the patient’s muscles and bones. It releases stored fats that are often the most difficult to metabolize through diet and exercise. Using HCG for weight loss is safe for both men and women and does not have any adverse effects.

A Contrary to popular belief if you follow a 500 calorie-a-day diet, you will lose weight anyway, however you will not lose the same weight in the same way as you do with HCG. Your goal is to lose ONLY fat, not just weight. Following a 500 calorie per day diet will leave you fatigued and irritable, and within a few days you will start to retain water due to being “protein deficient”.
Without the HCG, you will lose both fat and muscle just as if you were on any “normal” diet. If you don’t believe us, please try a 500 calorie-a-day diet without the HCG. Also remember you are getting 2000 calories from your fat each day which is why you will not be hungry, even though you are following a low calorie diet.
Some people will have a tough first few days depending on how “clean” your diet and lifestyle were previous to starting this program/protocol. Some people will suffer from “withdrawal effects”. Plateaus are normal with this program. It usually presents in a stair step fashion with a consistent large drop in weight followed by a slight plateau, or a slower loss for a few days.
Typically one significant plateau occurs in the second half of the program/protocol that can last 4-6 days. This is normal and will resolve itself in time so do not be concerned. Allowing physicians professional discretion to prescribe HCG in treating obesity or for patient weight loss is not based upon any governmental determination that HCG is effective for such use.
The use of HCG to treat obesity or for use in medical weight loss treatment combined with a low calorie diet with recommended exercise is not an FDA approved use of HCG and is prescribed at the discretion of our physician based upon the physician’s clinical assessment of the patient’s medical history and diagnostic laboratory report combined with the perceived benefit to be derived by the patient from the medication when combined with a healthy diet plan and/or exercise.
In regards to hCG this is the FDA’s Statement: INDICATIONS AND USAGE: hCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.
If you have a history of heart disease and are taking nitrates for it.
If you have diabetes and take insulin by injection only.
If you have a history of cancer.
If you have ever had a Stroke or Pulmonary Embolism
Although a patient may lose 5 pounds a week or more on the HCG diet, Weston HCG Center does not guarantee results. Weight loss depends on many variables, such as adherence to the diet, how physically active the patient is, and how well they respond to the HCG, that are completely out of the control of Weston HCG Center, its staff, and its Medical Director.
