The appearance of a double chin is caused by excess fat tissue that leaves the chin poorly defined, impacting your overall facial esthetics. In the past, only liposuction – cosmetic surgery – was an option to treat this condition. Today, we have Kybella™, a non-surgical option to reduce the appearance of double chin. This new alternative uses injections, and the active ingredient permanently destroys the fat cells that create that double chin look.

Kybella™ may be the solution for you if you are an adult over 18 and if the fullness in your chin has been determined to be fat and not something else.
Treatments take about 15 to 20 minutes. You’ll receive multiple injections with a tiny needle, like the one used for Botox treatments. The number of injections varies by your individual needs. You might feel warmth or a slight stinging sensation during the session, but many people report that Kybella™ injections are not as uncomfortable as chemical peels or laser hair removal.
This varies by your individual needs. Most people need 2 to 4 monthly sessions for optimal results, while some need up to 6 sessions. You’ll get an individualized plan of treatments at your consultation appointment, where our medical staff will review your individual needs and treatment goals.
Kybella™ treatments work by destroying fat cells, which is a process that happens over time. You’ll notice improvement slowly over the course of your treatments, and you can expect to see optimal results about a month after your final treatment.
Your medical technician will discuss all the possible side effects during your consultation appointment. The most common issues include swelling, bruising, discomfort, pain, numbness, redness, or firmness in the treated area. In rare cases, some people have had trouble swallowing or had some facial muscle weakness, but these issues resolved and were not permanent.
Swelling and bruising are typical, so plan your work and social calendar to allow time for this to subside. You can return to work and your normal activities immediately if you’d like, but avoid strenuous exercise for a couple of days.
While Kybella™ dissolves excess fat cells that cause double chin, it does not help tighten sagging skin. for this condition, another option like surgery or non-invasive body contouring may be the solution.
People with an active infection in the treatment area, who have trouble swallowing, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not have Kybella™ treatments. Also, inform our medical staff if you are on blood thinning medication, have bleeding problems, or if you had, or plan to have, surgery in your neck, chin, or face.
